Istria

If you feel like you need a vacation, slow down and think about visiting Istria. Great gastronomy, hospitable people, secluded beaches, and charming towns: here procrastination is a sweet temptation. Just as the locals would say: cemo ben!, meaning that there is no need for the rush. Everything is eventually going to be solved.

Due to Istria’s geographical position, this region is the cultural melting pot of different influences. The Roman amphitheater in Pula or the old town of Rovinj might remind you of Italy, while the continental towns exude the spirit of Central Europe. When you are in Istria there are some things that may not be missed like fuzi with fresh truffles, oysters from Lim Fjord, prosciutto, or Istrian ox. Add to the list some teran and malvasia, and you will have a true taste of this colorful region in one place.

Although there are a lot of places in Istria worth visiting, we would single out a trip to Brijuni National park, a visit to the fortified medieval town of Motovun, and a truffle hunt. The local guide might reveal to you what Jules Verne and Istria have in common, and which direction to follow to reach Hum – the smallest town in the world. The perfect time for all these activities is from April to November, but anytime to visit Istra is a good time.
